In addition to authorising Jewish marriages, the Beth Din partners with JME and The Chev to ensure that Jewish couples are sufficiently trained in the Halachot, laws, pertaining to Jewish married life, as well as the basics of relationships, before they are wed.

Prior to the wedding couples are to book the following classes:
  • Marriage preparation.
  • Kallah (mikveh) classes and chattan classes.
Please Note:

It is a Beth Din requirement to attend these classes in order for marriage authorisation to be given.

You may not attend your appointment without the required documentation.
  • For archival retrieval please email [email protected]. There is
    a small fee for this service. Email Yehoshua directly for this charge
  • Failure to do so will delay authorisation of the marriage, and could have serious repercussions.
  • APPLICANTS ARE ADVISED NOT TO FINALISE WEDDING ARRANGEMENTS UNTIL YOUR MARRIAGE IS AUTHORISED

Meet with the Dayan at the Beth Din at your scheduled time and
receive your marriage authorization within 14 working days.

If you need your marriage registration done in less than 14 days we
can try to accommodate and there is an express rate for this.

Yes, we do offer this service at an additional fee of R1500.

You should contact the Beth Din Office as soon as possible once a wedding date is
fixed in order to get the process started. The process can be completed in a minimum of two weeks, however we will charge an express fee of R800 for completing the process within a two week window.

No, according to the Beth Din’s requirements, your teacher must be approved by the JME.

Once you have reached out to the Beth Din Office to begin the marriage registration
process, Peta Welcher and Saul Sackstein from the JME will reach out to you to schedule your Chatan + Kallah classes.

Yes. When you apply for your marriage registration you will be able to opt to have us arrange the Ketuva for you as well.
